Select any five NBA players since the 2013-14 season and see how that lineup would be expected to perform, plus how it stacks up against real NBA lineups in key skill areas.
The data shown is expected performance, modeled for Offensive Rating and Defensive Rating against roughly 200,000 actual lineups using player talent data. Skill fit and synergy are accounted for, so the same player contributes differently depending on who he is next to.
That matters because raw lineup data misleads. Lineups take around 550 possessions together to stabilize on offense and around 850 on defense, as outlined here, and most real lineups never reach that. The Ringer covered five reasons raw lineup data lies to you here.
Our free Lineups App lets you explore stabilized lineup data that is more predictive of future results than raw data, and compares lineups of different sample sizes without arbitrary minute cutoffs. More on data stabilization here.
This tool is part of a membership. For $5 a month you get every premium tool, all 700+ metrics, and every season we cover. The free Lineups App above is open to everyone if you want a look at the data first.
